Tips to Improve Your Car’s AC Performance

Most people cannot picture not having the car ac on hot days. When the weather is hot, the ac does not just provide us comfort; it is also vital in helping to prevent heat-related problems like heat stroke and exhaustion. Keeping this in mind, there are ways to improve the cooling efficiency of your vehicle’s air conditioning system, reduce the chances of having it breakdown, and also decrease its fuel consumption.

Start The Car AC During The Drive

Many believe that they should start the AC before driving but doing so simply wastes fuel and time. The car ac works more efficiently while driving as the car ac compressor runs faster with the engine’s crankshaft rotation.

Have The Refrigerant Checked

Using the car ac extensively can lead to a gradual loss of refrigerant in the system due to leakage. When there is not enough refrigerant, it leads to poor cooling performance. It is also a good idea to have the tx valve or the expansion valve checked as it tends to wear out over time.

Be Smart When Parking

Ensure your car is parked in a shady spot whenever possible. The majority of heat enters the vehicle via radiation. It means keeping the car away from direct sunlight makes a lot of difference.

Use Recirculation Mode

In case you are out driving in a heatwave, it would be beneficial to turn the car ac on and use the recirculation mode. If you do not use recirculation mode, the car ac will constantly have to work harder to cool the hot air from outside the vehicle. It puts undue stress on the blower and the car ac compressor.

Regular Servicing

Any machine performs better when it is properly maintained. To keep the car ac working efficiently, it needs to be inspected and serviced regularly by car ac professionals. They normally check all components like the ac compressor and hoses are working well.

Since the demand skyrockets during the hot months of the year, it is best to have the ac serviced before summer and maybe enjoy some reduced rates and shorter waiting times.
